Federal Environmental Agency: Data centers squirt too much energy
A contribution by the German radio station reports on the Green-IT strategy of the German Federal Environmental Agency - A good example is the Green IT Cube.
"In Germany, data centers and mainframes consume as much energy as four medium-sized power plants, often using fossil fuels, which is why the Federal Environment Agency has launched a green IT strategy and rewards authorities or companies with the Blue Angel if they do. 22 meters high is the so-called Green IT Cube at the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt. In the final stage almost 800 meters high computer cabinets can be accommodated in the cube-shaped, windowless building - on six floors. "
