New board member at FIAS
Changes in responsibilities
The Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS), a unique think tank in Germany for cross-linking the natural sciences, has a new board of directors.
Dr. Rolf Bernhardt, who has been head of department at the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art for many years, was appointed as the new administrative board and deputy managing director by the FIAS Board of Trustees on June 17.
Dr. Bernhardt will be inaugurated on July 1, 2019 by Prof. Dr. Rudolf Steinberg, the former President of the Goethe University, who is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He takes over the tasks of the former FIAS General Manager Gisbert Jockenhöfer, who has been heading the administration since 2005.
Dr. Bernhardt has been responsible for FIAS on behalf of the state government since the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies was founded by the Goethe University Frankfurt in 2005. He is a lawyer and worked in the Ministry of Science and the Arts for 15 years until his retirement from the state service (2018) as head of department for higher education and research.
The former Vice President of the Goethe University, Prof. Dr. Enrico Schleiff, is the Chairman of the Board of FIAS and its Managing Director.
