Hannah Elfner was named "Scientist of the Year" 2021

The theoretical physicist will be honored at Goethe University

The Alfons and Gertrud Kassel Foundation awards the "Scientist of the Year" prize every second year to a scientist who, in addition to outstanding scientific achievements, is also committed to the work of young scientists. This year, FIAS Fellow Prof. Dr. Hannah Elfner receives the award, which is endowed with 25,000 euros.

Frankfurt physicists honoured Luciano Rezzolla

Academic Celebration of FIAS and the Department of Physics with State Secretary Ayse Asar

On 28.06.2019, outstanding physicists were honoured at an academic ceremony on the Riedberg campus with a speech by State Secretary Ayse Asar of the Hessian Ministry of Science and the Arts. The organizers were the Physics Department of the Goethe University, the Walter Greiner Gesellschaft zur Förderung der physikalischen Grundlagenforschung e.V. (Walter Greiner Society for the Promotion of Physical Basic Research), and the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS).

A successful arrival

Former FIAS doctoral student receives award from the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration

This year, the Hessian Minister for Social Affairs and Integration, Stefan Grüttner, honoured personalities with a migration background from all over Hesse for outstanding achievements in the fields of education, business and science at a ceremony in Schloss Biebrich in Wiesbaden. One of them is Hanna Kamyshanska, a former PhD of the Frankfurt Institute for Avanced Studies (FIAS).

FIAS Senior Fellow Laureate Ceremony

This Wednesday we will have an award ceremony in honour of our new FIAS Senior Fellow Laureate Prof. Dr. Dr. Hartmut Michel, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1988 and director at the Max-Planck-Institut für Biophysik. The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 18 at 17.30. After the Ceremony, Prof. Michel will give a small talk about his work (about 30 minutes in german language, abstract below). All FIAS-Members and interested Friends are warmly invited to join the ceremony and following reception.
